Winning Wisdom: Our Ability and Intelligence

Image
Topic: Our Ability and Intelligence [Monday, 24th April 2017] But to those called by God to salvation, both Jews and Gentiles, Christ is the power of God and the wisdom of God.  1 Corinthians 1:24 When we say the Christian life is an amazing life, we are not exaggerating. We've got the best life powered by God's Spirit. As a result of the salvation Christ has given to us that believe, Christ to us is God's Power and Wisdom. And these have been given to us. We not only have access to the salvation of God, we now have access to his power and wisdom. Glory to God! The treasures of wisdom and efficacious power of God abound abundantly in us. Power (dunamis in Greek) means among other things, ability. The supernatural ability of God is resident in us. This ability is inherent. It is as a result of the life of God which we have. This ability is dynamic in its functionality (James 5:15 AMP). That is, it functions in all areas of our lives. Isn't that amazing? Wherever we app...

Winning Wisdom: Direct Your Life

Image
Topic: Direct Your Life [Sunday, 23rd April 2017] For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.  Matthew 12:37 The effect of our words in our lives cannot be over-emphasized. The organ of speech - the tongue - is likened to a rudder in a ship (James 3:4). The rudder in a ship is the instrument of direction. Wherever the rudder is turned towards, that is where the ship goes. Our tongues give direction to our lives with the words that is spoken with it. This is because the power to give life or death and anything that can be likened to them is in the tongue (Proverbs 18:21). So, when scripture says that "for by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned" in Matthew 12:37, it is inferring that we make our lives what it will be with our words. When we speak words based on what the Lord have said about us, we direct our lives toward experiencing the reality of God's word. This is the more reason why we ne...

Winning Wisdom: Unity In Christ

Image
Topic: Unity In Christ [Saturday, 22nd April 2017] And Jesus knew their thoughts, and said unto them, Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and every city or house divided against itself shall not stand.   Matthew 12:25 In Matthew 12:2, the Pharisees posited that Jesus cast out devils by Beelzebub, the prince of the devils. Then Jesus went on to explain to them that if Satan cast out his own devils, he divides his own house. We well know that when a family is in disunity, they usually can’t agree against a common enemy,  because they would be too busy trying to outsmart themselves, and prove each other wrong, and before they know it, the common enemy gains ground and brings them down. In Christendom today, Christians are so busy trying to prove whose church is the best, that they fail to see and recognize the attacks of the devil against the church. And even if/when they see and recognize them, they’re too busy deciding which Pastor or General Overs...

Winning Wisdom: Faithful in Little

Image
Topic: Faithful in Little [Thursday, 20th April 2017] He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much: he that is unjust in the least is unjust also in much.   Luke 16:10 Every one of us wants more. More knowledge; more money; more friends; more time for what we think we cannot do with little time. However, not every one of us who desires more can actually handle and utilize effectively the more we crave, if given. Most of us have been in a situation where we have to compulsorily carry out a certain activity for the most part of our day. For instance, attend classes, business meetings, seminars, workshops from 8am till 4pm. By the time you get back to your place of abode, there seems to be so little time, and you need to rest, eat, read, and do some other things. But you're unable to do so because by the time you're done eating and resting, there's no more time, and you wished you had more time. Then you get a free day! We can testify that very few of us...

Winning Wisdom: Unprofitable Servants

Image
Topic: Unprofitable Servants [Wednesday, 19th April 2017] So likewise ye, when ye shall have done all those things which are commanded you, say, We are unprofitable servants: we have done that which was our duty to do.  Luke 17:10 In Luke 17:7-10, Jesus gives His disciples an illustration of a servant who worked all day in the field for his master, when he returns home, he was not allowed to rest, but was given even more work to do for his master, including waiting for the master to finish eating dinner before he could sit to eat. Then, Jesus goes ahead to tell His disciples that they are such servants, whom after working for their master are given even more work, with no reward, as it were. In modern times, we have been so made to believe that we deserve a reward for every work we do, that we forget the admonition of Christ to lay not our treasures where rust and thieves have access to them (Mathhew 6:19-20). Now, it is true that a labourer is worthy of his wages, and he shall b...

Winning Wisdom: Into The Most Holy Place

Image
Topic: Into The Most Holy Place [Monday, 17th April 2017] “Don’t cling to me,” Jesus said, “for I haven’t yet ascended to the Father. But go find my brothers and tell them, ‘I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.’”   John 20:17 The event captured in the that scripture did not take place on a Monday morning, but on Sunday, even though you are reading it on a Monday. But it is a very significant event in the whole redemption package. The Ark of the Covenant Moses built for the children of Israel was a replica of what is in heaven. And just like the priests go to the holies of holy to make atonement for the children of Israel, so also Jesus, our High Priest, had to go into the Holies of Holies to make atonement for you and I. No one touches the high priest before he goes in. He must not be defiled if not he will die in there. This is why Jesus told Mary Magdalene not to touch or cling to Him. He had to first present, before the mercy seat of God, the b...

Winning Wisdom: Up From The Grave

Image
Topic: Up From The Grave [Sunday, 16th April 2017] And he saith unto them, Be not affrighted: Ye seek Jesus of Nazareth, which was crucified: he is risen; he is not here: behold the place where they laid him.   Mark 16:6 Bounds broken, Jesus Christ took on the whole host of hell. He subdued them, and made Satan to bow to His Lordship. Christ did not loss His position to Satan, man did. But in hell, He, on behalf of man subdued Satan, and took the power (Greek - exousia: meaning influence and legal authority and supremacy), of earth from him. The whole process to restore man was complete. While the death on the cross reinstalled man's holiness and acceptability before God, the activities in hell was to reinstall man as the paramount ruler of the earth. So, up from the grave He arose! He arose with victory. He arose with power. He arose for man. He arose also as the authority over hell, the domain of Satan. No wonder Apostle Paul said in Philippians 2:10 "that at the na...

Winning Wisdom: Into Hell

Image
Topic: Into Hell [Saturday, 15th April 2017] (Now that he ascended, what is it but that he also descended first into the lower parts of the earth?  Ephesians 4:9 And He - Jesus - on the cross, said It is finished. And then died. Jesus died a sinner. And there is only one place a sinner will go after he answers the call of death, HELL! Referred to "the lower parts of the earth," Christ went in, bound and led by the demons of Satan. He was condemned to eternal prison, or so they thought. But He went there as part of the eternal plan of God. God had other ideas why He allowed Satan take Jesus to hell. Hell had something that He needed to take. So, even if He appeared defeated to Satan's demons, He was strong. One thing you should know, Jesus Christ went to hell so that you and I will never perceive the smell from the flame. Jesus died a sinner and then went to hell, so that we won't die as sinners and go to hell. Hell was not made for you, and as long as you've bel...

Winning Wisdom: See... Listen ... Act

Image
Topic: See... Listen ... Act [Thursday, 13th April 2017] Be thou diligent to know the state of thy flocks, and look well to thy herds.  Proverbs 27:23 KJV Ask anyone, 'how are you?' The most likely response you'll get is, 'I am fine'. But then, truth is, that isn't always true. A true friend will ask you, 'how are you?' will not just only  wait to hear but will also listen to your response and then looks into your eyes to see that your response is actually true. It is very important that we pay attention to people's countenance from time to time. It is wrong to always assume that they are fine simply because they said they are, especially when you are accountable for them as a parent, teacher, leader, spouse, sibling, pastor or just as a friend. It won't be out of place to say that the prophet who died in 2 Kings 4 falls into the category of people we assume are doing great, where as they have lots to deal with that is locked in their hearts. B...

Winning Wisdom: For the Lost

Image
Topic: For the Lost [Wednesday, 12th April 2017] For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which is lost.   Luke 19:10 I have come to realize that it is quite easy for me to look at those who do not know Christ, and are not saved, and condemn them to eternal damnation, or when I see or hear of a group of persons who committed or are committing some grievous offences or say “God cannot just have mercy on this one”. Some can relate to this, because they have at one point or another been angry for God, and declare damnation on someone that erred. Now, this is wrong, not only because it is pride, or that we are enjoined by scriptures to love and pray for those unsaved, but also because the message of salvation is for the unsaved. Now, Christ gives an illustration of a man who had a hundred sheep in Luke 15:4-7. Now, this man lost just one of his sheep, and that means he still had 99 left to his pleasure. It would naturally be expected that the man would guide the 99 sheep ...

Winning Wisdom: Service from Abundance

Image
Topic: Service from Abundance [Monday, 10th April 2017] But ye shall not be so: but he that is greatest among you, let him be as the younger; and he that is chief, as he that doth serve.  Luke 22:27 Service is work done by one person to benefit another; an act of help or assistance. To serve simply means to do something to the benefit of another, usually in a lower status than the one serving. The norm in life is for the younger to serve the older, and the lesser to serve the greater. For those of us that have younger siblings, we know that we cannot clear the place where our younger sibling ate, or wash the utensils used by them, as a traditional norm. Even more relatable is when an errand (especially a menial job) is to be sent, the younger one is the first to be called for such. Christ however instructs us, his followers, differently. He says the greater amongst us should serve the lesser. This may offend some persons, as they would reason “why should I, ten years in ministr...

Winning Wisdom: Roar Back

Image
Topic: Roar Back [Sunday, 9th April 2017] ...resist the devil, and he will flee from you.  James 4:7 Scriptures say that Satan goes about the earth LIKE A LION, looking for who to devour. He is not a lion. He can never be a lion. I remember when I was very young, I had a cat as a pet. I loved my cat so much. Weird right? I learnt how to meow from my cat. Sometimes, I could just meow like my cat to scare people, especially at night when there was epileptic power supply. Children! Well, I was not a cat, but I was scaring people with the sound of a cat. This is the same thing Satan does. He goes about scaring people, roaring like he is a lion that he is not. But you've got the real Lion in you. And if scriptures say as He - Jesus - is, so are we in this world (1 John 4:17), it is safe for me to say we are Lions like Jesus. A lion can only give birth to another lion. We are lions. When Satan comes to roar like a lion in a bid to fill you with fear, beloved, don't chicken out. RO...

Winning Wisdom: Satan cannot Prevail

Image
Topic: Satan cannot Prevail [Saturday, 8th April 2017] And I tell you, you are Peter [Greek, Petros--a large piece of rock], and on this rock [Greek, petra--a huge rock like Gibraltar] I will build My church, and the gates of Hades (the powers of the infernal region) shall not overpower it [or be strong to its detriment or hold out against it]. Matthew16:18 The church of God is not the building we come together to fellowship in. I am sure you know that by now. Apostle Peter became the rock - foundation - or we can say, the first convert of Jesus when he caught the revelation that Jesus is the Christ - Anointed Savior and the Son of God. And it is this same revelation every single member of the church today must have to become part of the church. That is, we must all recognize Jesus as the Son of God and Saviour of the world. It is this revelation Jesus told the Jews, that they couldn't believe nor stomach, that they picked up stones to kill Him. As the church, one thing you should ...

Winning Wisdom: Be At Rest

Image
Topic: Be At Rest [Friday, 7th April 2017] Now Jesus, when He saw the great throngs around Him, gave orders to cross to the other side [of the lake]. -  Matthew 8:18 Do you have Jesus as Lord of your life? If your answer is in the affirmative, I congratulate you. You are one of a kind. A special breed who is so secured that the storms of life can't get you under. You are immovable and indefatigable. Nothing can by any means hurt you. You can join these chosen and separated people if you have not received Jesus as Lord of your life by accepting the sacrifice of Jesus for your sins and asking him to come into your life, so you can enjoy the secured life we are enjoying in Christ. In Matthew 8, from the very first verse, Jesus was engaged in so many activities. That day, He was just healing people every where He went. And because He was in human flesh, He was exhausted. "Now Jesus, when He saw the great throngs around Him, gave orders to cross to the other side [of the lake]...

Winning Wisdom: Don't You Remember

Image
Topic: Don't You Remember [Thursday, 6th April 2017] Don’t you understand even yet? Don’t you remember the 5,000 I fed with five loaves, and the baskets of leftovers you picked up?  Matthew 16:9 Human memory, sometimes, is capable of forgetting things. We can't actually always remember everything that our brain has captured. Most times, when faced with stressful or a challenging situation, we forget the good things and the miracles that the Lord has done for us, and then we begin to reason with our human mind how to solve the challenge, which don't allow turn out Good. While it is ok to try to find solutions to the challenges that beset us, it is very instructive for us to know that the Lord said we should cast all our cares upon Him, because he cares for us. Jesus told His disciples in Matthew 16:6 “watch out! Beware of the yeast of the Pharisees and Sadducees.” Even though Jesus was not referring to bread, His disciples, who did not carry bread with them when they were ...

Winning Wisdom: Create Value

Image
Topic: Create Value [Wednesday, 5th April 2017] Then Peter arose and went with them. When he was come, they brought him into the upper chamber: and all the widows stood by him weeping, and shewing the coats and garments which Dorcas made, while she was with them. -  Acts 9:39 Scriptures say in Proverbs 10:7 "we have happy memories of the godly, but the name of a wicked person rots away." People are remembered for the value they create in the lives of others. When I was in my early teenage age, I had a friend that I liked so much. We always hang out then and sing together. But one thing I will never forget about her was that she was the first person that encouraged me to be a writer. I used to write articles and give to her to read. Her words were always filled with appraisals of how good I was in writing. The value her words of created in my life is still being felt till date. Those are the kind of things God has created us to do. Creating value not only goes a long ...

Winning Wisdom: Self Evaluation

Image
Topic: Self Evaluation [Tuesday, 4th April 2017] Let us examine ourselves instead, and let us repent and turn again to the Lord.   Lamentations 3:40 TLB To evaluate means to determine the significance, worth or condition of a thing, usually by careful appraisal and study. It is very key as sons and daughters of Christ that we determine the condition of our walk with Christ. And we must constantly ask ourselves how has our walk with God been? This is done, in a bid to determine the quality of our Christian life and how much of God's glory we are reflecting. We must also evaluate if there are things that are of the old life that we are still exhibiting even as a son or daughter of Christ, so we could expunge them. Our anchor scripture stresses the need for continual examination of ourselves. Our walk with God demands diligence, zeal, confidence, humility, obedience and faith. Our walk with God equally demands carefulness and time to time check up. The need to examine ourselves co...

Winning Wisdom: Anger and Doubt

Image
Topic: Anger and Doubt [Monday, 3rd April 2017] I will therefore that men pray everywhere lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting.  1 Timothy 2:8 It is a know fact that prayer is communication with God, and we are continually admonished by scriptures to pray always (Ephesians 6:18, 1 Thessalonians 5:17). Now we know communication is a two-way thing, where both parties speak and listen to each other. However our communication with God can be hindered because of anger and doubt. Lets start with anger. Anger is basically fury against some grievance(s). Now, as humans we are prone to get angry at someone or something, or an occurrence. But as Christians - now spirit beings (John 3:6) - we are instructed by scriptures to always forgive and not hold grudge against anyone (Matthew 5:38-41). Christ further instructs us in Matthew 5:23-24 that when we are about to give a gift, and remember that we have a grievance against someone, we should first go and reconcile with the pers...
